Hotel Silken Diagonal

Tests done in the lobby. Very poor signal there. Connection loss all the time. I was only able to login with landingpage for a short time (then signal loss). No chance to login using WISPr / SIM.

I hope it's better in the rooms, as I wasn't allowed to go in.

There is indeed a 802.1x signal from kubi wireless here, but it seems roaming has not been enabled on this as I wasn't able to authenticate over it.

Specials:
There are actually 34 AP Signals here. I think this number will increase over the weekend (e.g. our signal will come too)

They've got a small nice restaurant behind the reception with very good wlan coverage. Perfect for nomadic users, drink/eat something and surf the net/check your emails...

There was a hidden signal but it definitively wasn't a 1x ap (had WEP encryption enabled)

Good coverage in the caffeteria at right side of main entrance. Don't go to the waiting areas, coverage is very poor there.

kubi landingpage & locations

Have a look at the kubi wireless landingpage. You can directly enter your username and password on this side but it is very important to not forget choosing the appropriate roaming partner from the drop-down menu list.

We searched for 2 additional hotels with kubi hotspots. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find them. Even the tourists guide didn't know about them. I think those two locations are dummies:
- Hotel Abba Rambla
- Gran Hotel Havanna
I seems those 2 hotels just don't exist. We spend around 2 hours searching for them :( Nomadic user's daily business as it seems...

At la rambla.

Successful tests:

again, no hidden 1x signal here ,(

This location is much much better. It has a restaurant nearby where (well, if you sit directly at the wall to the hotel as I did) the kubi signal is quite good. Coffe & WiFi, what all nomadic users need ;-)

No hidden 1x signal here, sorry stifu ;-)

Specials:
At la Rambla... ...wasn't allowed to go in... ...a bit of warsitting for us ;-) Even worse: after 10 mins, a policeman came, telling me that it's dangerouse to sit here with my laptop, it could get stolen.... ....and 5 mins later, the security guy from the hotel came telling me it's not allowed to sit here. No problem, i was able to do all my access tests heh!
It seems WiFi is still not a well-known service to people...

This is a view on our testing infrastructure in our lab at the weroam office in berne.
As you can probably see, we have not only hotspots from a varity of our WISP partners but also from many different hardware manufacturers.

This is the first post to the Hotspot testing blog. As we have many different testhotspots from our WISP-Partners in our Lab, this is the first main location for tests.
On all of these test hotspots, we test mainly landingpage login with radius accounts from our side and our sim authentication solution. Furthermore we use them to test 3rd party smart clients from our customers.

Note: If you click on the pictures, you will be forwarded to my flickr page. And there, on each photo, you will find a comment from my side which will allow you to open the location on google earth ("fly to this location"). Of course you'll need to have google earth installed for this. Check it out!
